We were super excited when asked to take some promotional shots for the very inspiring Team RASA's Matt Gibson and Amy Souter, who are attempting to cycle through South America on a tandem bike!!! The first ever attempt at the world record for cycling the length of South America on a tandem bike! The friends will start their adventure on 1st October in Columbia, aiming to finish 50 day's later in Ushuaia Argentina - also known as The End Of The World!!
We caught up with them at the Cow and Calf in Ilkley to capture them as they tackled the steep hills in preparation for the ride of a lifetime. Hiding in the bracken to get the perfect angle, I could be heard shouting 'can you cycle up the hill one more time, I just want to try something else?'. Really sorry guys, think of it as practise 😊.
With no support team Matt and Amy will be raising money for charties very close to their hearts.
Bloodwise is very close to Amy as she nearly lost her sister to leukaemia a few years ago and was fortunate enough to be able to successfully give her stem cells.
Matt has chosen Cancer Research UK after a close friend and mentor of his passed away from cancer at 39 – the same age Matt will be while undertaking this challenge – and wants to support an organisation aiming to dramatically improve chances of people surviving cancer.
You can donate through their fundraising page.
We finished the day with a hot chocolate (apparently it's law - and a very good law it is too) and a long chat about their inspirational trip. You can read more about their adventure and track their progress through their website, or follow Matt and Amy's adventure on Facebook and Instagram and give them lots of encouragement.
Team Campbell, wishes Team RASA all the best for their big adventure - we'll be watching closely and cheering them on!!!
