Top Tips To Create Your Own Flatflay

We love creating flatlays for ourselves and especially for our Personal Branding customers. A Flatlay is an easy way to showcase awesome items you own/sell, tell a story, and wow your social media followers. Our top tips below will help you to take your own using just your mobile phone and a few key items.

1 - Backdrop

Keep it simple and use a plain backdrop. This could be a plain floor (we use the white studio floor), wooden flooring or just a large sheet of card.

2 - Lighting

There is no need for fancy lighting - use natural light. Set your scene up next to a large natural light source - we set our scene up next to the open studio door. Best done on a cloudy day so that the light is nice and soft - sunlight will only leave harsh shadows.

3 - Decide what you will use your flatlay for.

Tell your story -Are you having a creative day? Perhaps a notepad, pen and cup of coffee would be a great image.

Background - Use a select few items to create a flaylay with a large amount of space so you can add text as and when you need to. This is a great way of creating recognisable imagery

Your branding - Use your brand colours throughout to tie it all in.

4 - Finishing touches

Edit your photos using the Instagram presets. Consider which present best suits your brand style and stick to the presets so there is consistency in your imagery
