Hands up if you don't like being in front of the camera? 🙋, Me too! That’s why I stay behind the camera 🤣. Being camera-shy myself, I think that puts me in a great position to help those of you who feel the same - camera-shy kindred spirits if you like.
When I’m working with awesome women in business on their personal brand photoshoots, they must look and feel confident and comfortable. Images like this will help their customers engage and connect, building that know, like and trust factor.
I have a whole list of poses that send the right message to your customer while making you feel comfortable in front of the camera.
Here are my favourites 5 portrait poses for camera-shy business owners:
Being Silly - grab yourself a pink bull, have some fun and show your personality 🤣. This is a great way to start the shoot, break the ice and realise it’s all just a bit of fun.
Drinking coffee – Sometimes not knowing what to do with your hands can make you feel super awkward. Having something as simple as a cup of coffee in your hands can help you to relax. Yes, I know that wine would have the same effect but perhaps not the right message for your customer.
Working on your laptop - Customers like to see behind the scenes, and sitting at your laptop gives the customer an idea of what goes on behind the scenes.
Over your shoulder - We can still tell that it's you, and this feels even more relaxed. With all the space next to you in the picture, it’s the perfect image to use and add text in Canva.
Blurred in the background - With the focus in the foreground, we can still see you but the viewer's eye is drawn to the foreground. This is an excellent opportunity to show off some of your products or a tool of the trade.
